About the program/cycle of studies

The Bachelor’s degree in Prosthodontics functions in accordance with the Bologna process. It takes 3 academic years (6 semesters) and is made up of 180 ECTS, in accordance with notification nº 9354/2012 of 02 July, published in the 2ª série of the Diário da República nº 131 on 09 July 2012.

The profession of prosthodontics technicians has witnessed a profound technological evolution in recent decades as a result of the demands of clinics and patients themselves. Nowadays, prosthodontics upon the European level is much more than the ‘art of making dentures’. Now it encompasses a series of skills that enable prosthodontics technicians to carry out a highly technological activity, bringing together clinical and prosthetic issues. This cycle of studies provides integrated training that is deep enough and adapted to meet market demands. It serves as a first step to further studies that will solidify the skill set that is essential for the basic professional practice. This bachelor’s degree provides students with the skills that enable them to participate in the design, preparation, manufacture, modification and repair of dental prosthetics utilizing the most appropriate products, techniques and procedures. All of this know-how is put to use in an internship within a real professional context in the last semester of studies.

Course accredited by A3ES on 02-03-2011 (CEF).
