Major interests

Our current research activities are focused on two subjects.

The main topics are:
1. Analysis of Pollutant from Pharmaceutical, Industrial and Natural Origin in Water.
   The aim of this subject is the development of methodologies for the quantification and monitorization of pollutants in river and estuarine waters and in effluents and/or influents of wastewater treatment plants (WWTP). The biodegradation study of pharmaceutical pollutants in order to increase the degree of elimination of this kind of compounds in WWTP has also been carried out. The synergic and additive effects that these pollutants may cause in fish are also under investigation by collaboration with external groups.
2. Pharmaceutical and Food Analysis.
   The research involving pharmaceutical and food analysis is related to development of appropriated methodologies for chemical quality control in food and pharmaceutical products. Our main research aims to assess the quality control of food, drug stability during storage, and also to evaluate the antioxidant activity of vegetable extracts or foods.
