Vila Nova de Famalicão Campus
The Escola Superior de Saúde do Vale do Ave / Vale do Ave Higher School of Health (ESSVA) is located on Rua José António Vidal in the city centre of Vila Nova de Famalicão. It is located in a modern building and was specifically constructed for the teaching of sciences and health technology, where in addition to the education and research facilities, the student can find all the services they may come to need in their day-to-day scholastic life, including a library, study halls, an area with fixed and wireless internet access, (ATM) cash point, stationary store/reprography room, restaurant and leisure spaces among other services made available to them.
The establishment is situated some 200 meters from the city’s central bus station, which is linked to the greater bus networks which connect all the cities in the northern part of the country.
In fact, the city of Vila Nova de Famalicão finds itself in a privileged geographical location as it is centrally located at a crossroad, being at most 20 minutes from the main urban centres in the north of Portugal, namely Porto, Braga, Maia, Guimarães, Barcelos, Póvoa do Varzim and Vila do Conde, among others. Moreover, the city has a train station which makes fast connections to the cities of Porto, Braga, Barcelos and Viana do Castelo.
The academic campus will also be home to the completed Novo Hospital Particular de Vila Nova de Famalicão (New Private Hospital of Vila Nova de Famalicão) in 2010, which will begin to be built next year on a plot of land adjacent to ESSVA, recently acquired by CESPU, CRL.
