Scholarships Granted by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education
The scholarships from the Social Welfare Fund of the Ministry of Sciences and Higher Education are geared towards financially disadvantaged students who are enrolled in higher education establishments. The scholarship amounts to a cash benefit, of variable amount, to be used toward the costs associated with enrolment in a higher education course and which is intended to help cover the costs of accommodation, food, transportation, school supplies and tuition fees, among others. The scholarship is entirely funded by the Social Welfare Fund as a non-refundable grant; in the 2006/2007 academic year, 891 students at establishments under the aegis of CESPU, CRL were recipients of this kind of grant. Also within the scope of student welfare, in 2005, CESPU, CRL joined the "Projecto Piloto" (Pilot
Project) of the Social Welfare Fund. The fundamental objective of this project is involving higher education institutions private and cooperative in the process of awarding state grants, and promoting the creation of social welfare structures in the educational establishments which have adhered to the project. Thus, all the candidatures for scholarships from the Social Welfare Fund involving CESPU students are now conducted internally using the structure which the institution specifically created for this purpose. In order to provide their students with the best service, CESPU adhered to the project, enabling greater equity and social justice in the awarding of scholarships within their student community.
CESPU Scholarships
CESPU scholarships are intended to assist students with economic difficulties by granting them full or partial exemption from their tuition payments. Notwithstanding the varying number of available scholarships, 21 students from three educational establishments under the aegis of CESPU, CRL were recipients during the 2006/2007 academic year.
